The Hokkaido Rail Pass is valid for all train lines offered by Hokkaido Railway co. and bus lines of JR Hokkaido Bus (excluding Sapporo – Asahikawa / Sapporo – Monbetsu / Sapporo – Obihiro / Sapporo – Kiroro lines and irregular lines).

How to obtain a Japan Rail Pass?
You must purchase an exchange order from an authorized sales office such as Kintetsu before you go to Japan. After you arrive in Japan, you turn in the exchange order to receive your Japan Rail Pass at an applicable JR station that has a Japan Rail Pass exchange office.

Who is eligible for a Regional Japan Rail Pass?
The regional Passes are available to travelers entering Japan on a non-Japanese passport with "Temporary Visitor" entry status.

It is very important to note that Japanese passport holders cannot use any of the regional passes; they can only use the standard Japan Rail Pass if they meet the overseas residence requirements. For a complete description of this limitation, please visit the official site.

How to make a reservation
Seat reservations can be made without additional charges; seat availability cannot be guaranteed otherwise. To make a reservation, apply at a TRAVEL SERVICE CENTER (View Plaza) or a reservation office (Modori-no-madoguchi) at a JR East station. There, show your pass, and obtain your reserved-seat ticket before boarding.

» Seat reservations cannot be made prior to exhanging your JR Pass in Japan.

JR Hokkaido Pass Type and Prices:
There are two types of JR Hokkaido Pass: Green (First Class) and Ordinary (Tourist Class). Both are valid for 3 consecutive days.

	Please note the following important information before placing an order: MAC Safari users must have version 2.0.4 or newer if placing internet orders. Otherwise orders will not be received or processed. It takes approximately 5 business days (M-F; excludes National holidays) to process and ship Japan Rail pass orders. If you wish to have your order expedited and received under 5 business days you are required to place an order via phone. » All phone orders will be subjected to a $10 processing fee per Japan Rail pass. If you require for same day (order must be placed before 2pm ET) or next day processing the order will be subjected to $25 processing fee per Japan Rail pass. If you require for same day (order placed after 2pm ET) processing the order will be subjected to $35 processing fee per Japan Rail pass. » Any orders placed via "walk-in" will be subjected to a $35 processing fee per Japan Rail pass. Please note that due to strict building security outside visitors will not be permitted into the building without scheduled appointments. If any changes or modifications that must be made to the order after it has been received will be subjected to $10 CHANGE FEE per Japan Rail pass. This will include any name changes or any changes to the type of Japan Rail pass requested. In addition to the CHANGE FEE you will be responsible for any applicable fees i.e. upgrading the Japan Rail pass or upgrading shipping, etc. Incomplete or incorrectly submitted orders will NOT be processed. These orders will be canceled. Please do not request for any upgrades/changes/modifications through your order as they will not be processed. PLEASE NOTE: We do not receive any customer payment information from internet orders placed as this information goes directly through Verisign, the on-line payment processing company. They are prohibited by law to forward this private information to us. So, if you wish to change/modify orders you must do so via phone.
